Instructor Training

Registered charity no. 213121
Hanson Pilates is proud to be Scotland’s sole training centre for the delivery of industry acknowledged CYQ Level 3 training in Pilates Matwork. This qualification is approved through the government via Ofqual and the Sector Skills Council - Skills Active.
Hanson Pilates has been working with CYQ since February 2009 to deliver quality training in the Pilates technique. This training is accredited on the new national Qualifications & Credit Framework (QCF). It is also recognised and endorsed by the Register of Exercise Professionals, and the UK fitness industry as a whole.
Prior to working with CYQ, Hanson Pilates delivered instructor training on behalf of the Pilates Institute and Michael King, again as the Scottish flagship in the industry.

The Great Transition or the Great Divide?
Modified Moves to Original Moves: Creating a Flow
We should never underestimate the power of Joseph Pilates’ original moves, designed for the able and the athletic. However, at the heart of our Level 3 training is the need to modify these moves for the less able or the uninitiated, in order to provide exercise which is safe, effective and appropriate.
Sometimes an instructor’s comfort zone (and own physical ability) may be in the modified moves and there may be a reluctance to introduce original moves to an appropriate audience.
This one day course looks at lesson planning and class progression to achieve a seamless interface between the two.
Topics covered:
• Review of what constitutes an intermediate or advanced move
• Analysis of which of the original 34 moves will be appropriate for our clients
• Creation of progressions of intensity for these moves in a logical and safe manner
• Making guidelines for the creation of an effective lesson plan, both in terms of move sequencing and class progression over time
There will be one pre-course activity which will be given to you on course booking, and which you should be prepared to discuss on the day.
The day will conclude with a short written paper, a pass in which will confirm your certification and 8 REPs points.
Date: 28th April 2012
Cost: £95.00

Testimonials
Thank you so much for all your help and encouragement. At my age it was
quite an undertaking but your insistence that I would be able to do it egged
me on. Thanks again for giving me this new chance in life.
Liz, Lanarkshire
Thank you so much Debbie. Yourself and your team have been fantastic,
professional and a great support throughout."
Sandy, Aberdeenshire
Thank you for a great training course at the weekend. I was able to take what I had learned immediately to my Monday class (for which I felt a new found enthusiasm), and I feel confident my teaching is improving with courses like this. Also many thanks for bringing the guest physiotherapist to the meeting. It is good to feel I can more confidently spot the people who should not come to my classes! She also reinforced the conviction in the basic 15 moves, particularly important for people with "issues that can be handled in a class". The simple but inspired modifications to the basic 15 moves taught to us by the course tutor will be forever useful.
Jane, Edinburgh
P.S Great manuals too.
The training was fantastic - I still have so much to learn. Having a lecture from a guest physiotherapist was truly fantastic, very inspirational. The course tutor’s depth of knowledge was awesome, I can only aspire to be at most one tenth as knowledgeable as she is!!
Allison, Fife
Just wanted to thank you for the fantastic day yesterday. I really, really enjoyed it.
It was particularly nice to meet Malcolm and Michael...their enthusiasm is infectious.
Sarah, West Lothian
I just wanted to say thank you for a brilliant day yesterday.
Keeley, Peebles
Just a note to thank you again for organising the visit of Michael and Malcolm on Saturday. I got so much out of it - not only the great instruction but also the feeling that we are not 'working in isolation' - it was great to see so many of us in one place.
Lesley, Edinburgh
Really enjoyed the day, participating in the classes was great - not done Pilates for a few weeks and I can feel the effect on my ribs, which is good.
Shona, Castle Douglas
I was really impressed with Malcolm and Michael. I can see why they're in the position that they are. They had time for everyone. Saturday was a good day.
Heather, Edinburgh
Small group and enthusiasm on all sides! Thank you Debbie for another great course
Emma, Aberdeenshire
